What do I mean by a maniacal snow-shover (MSS)? I mean someone who moves all-in every turn. This is one area where they are a pain. However, when you come across them in short-handed Sit and Go tournaments they can be a serious danger to your stack. If this tactic succeeds in consecutive turns then they can achieve a big chip advantage.
The main problem is that maniacal snow-shovers are hard to beat.
- First, when they move all-in, because they do it so frequently, you do not know what they are holding.
- Sometimes it could be 7-2, sometimes 5-5, sometimes, even A-A.
- When you decide to call them, it's one of these. And 'one of these' usually means, 'I don't know.'

The other players will have a hard time dealing with the MSS who now has a pyramid of chips to throw bricks with, and I can now afford to play conservatively.
- I will wait until I have A-A, K-K (or even just A-K or A-Q) so I can double up through the MSS.
- Or I will wait until the MSS is knocked out by the other players, or until the MSS knocks out the other players, then we will be heads up with the MSS.
What I've been saying is, play super-tight and aggressive poker. Because almost all action here takes place preflop, forget the connectors and weak Aces.
Forget small pairs which may be underdogs against the K-10 or Q-9 the MSS may plunge onto you.
Wait for a hand where you are at least a 70% favorite preflop (tight), then once you get it, put your chips in the middle (aggressive).
When you are down to the final two (you and the MSS, which usually happens when you play tight and there is an MSS in play), the MSS usually is leading in chips.
Heads-up, your weak Aces (A-8 below) and even K-x will be effective. Your K-x is just as powerful as A-x when the MSS decides to call you with Q-x.
You can't afford to wait for the big hands because here, the blinds are overeating you now.
Shove even with 5-4 or with 10-7. If you get called and you are the underdog, you still have two live cards.
Against an MSS heads up, play like an MSS, but fold obviously weak hands.
If you fold those weak hands, on average you have a better hand range than your opponent, so you have the better chance of winning even if you start with the smaller stack.
You can't and won't beat them all the time but if you follow this advice and play tight aggressive poker you will beat them more often than not and in poker more often than not is enough to make you good money.

Now that you have an idea on pre-flop situations now let take a look at board activity terms.
Over pair - A pair in your hand that beats what is on the board.
Top pair - means that you have paired the highest card on the board with one in your hand. Next down is middle pair and bottom pair respectively.
If you manage to survive the flop but have 4th and 5th St. left to endure. Then you have three more terms to keep in mind as you go.
Outs - the amount of cards that can give you a winning hand.
Drawing dead- this basically means that you have no chance of winning a hand. Some players if they are drawing dead may bluff or go on tilt at the last second to try and steal the pot.
Having the "nuts"- Having the nuts means you have the best possible hand available from the cards on the board and in your hand.

Tipping the Dealer - Can He Make You Win If You Do?

Tip is the amount a gambler gives to a dealer as a token for the dealer's good service. The better service a player receives the bigger tip he should be willing to give. So I made a rule: I never give tip for as long as I am still playing. I only give tip when I am leaving the casino, and it's usually about from 5 to 20 per cent on the amount I won. Should a gambler still give a tip even if he lost? Well, it all depends on you. In my case I usually do especially if I like the dealer. Only it would usually be in small amount compared to if I won. Philippine dealers are not refrained by the management when they coax gamblers into giving tips, and that is what some dealers usually do. I know a dealer who is very good in making the games a fun experience for everyone. He was a happy dealer. When it comes to stand up comedy, he could actually put Jay Leno to shame. He deals every card as if it were a ground breaking event. He describes your small winnings as if it were a fortune. And he sympathizes with your losses too. He makes you feel your big losses were just coins. With him, even if you lose, you don't feel bad about it. Gamblers in his table give him more tips because of his happy nature. If he gets all his tips, he would be the richest of all the dealers.
On the question of whether a dealer can make you win if you give him tips, the answer is no. Dealers act in accord with strict rules they cannot deviate, so whether or not you give him tip has nothing to do with the outcome of the events. There are dealers though that makes you feel he was responsible for making you win, and that would usually make you give him more tips. If a dealer tells you he can make you win if you give him bigger tips, better run to the next table -you're in a wrong dealer.
Dealers have their own lingo in describing a gambler according to how much tip he gives. They call a gambler George if he is a big tipper, and stiff if he is not.
